As summer temperatures rise, more and more people in France are turning to a solution that’s as simple as it is effective: the ceiling fan. The report broadcast by TF1 Info on 4 July 2025<\/a> highlights a fast-growing trend, both among private individuals and in public establishments such as schools.<\/p>\n

A cost-effective solution to soaring air-conditioning prices<\/h2>\n

The main argument in favour of ceiling fans? Their unbeatable value for money. A private individual interviewed<\/strong> in the report explains that he invested 400 euros<\/strong> to equip his home, compared with over 3,000 euros<\/strong> for a conventional air conditioning system. That’s a substantial saving, not to mention the fact that they consume very little energy<\/strong>, a considerable advantage in times of energy tension.<\/p>\n

Ceiling fans are capable of reducing the perceived temperature in a room by up to 4 degrees<\/strong>, without the disadvantages associated with air conditioning (complex installation, costly maintenance, noise, etc.).<\/p>\n

This trend is being felt directly at the point of sale. In one DIY shop visited by the TF1 team, sales have soared by 140% since the start of the summer season<\/strong>. One manager explained that the most popular model does not exceed 36 decibels<\/strong>, which guarantees silent operation<\/strong>, appreciated both at night and in shared areas.<\/p>\n

Another advantage highlighted: ease of installation<\/strong>. \u2018It’s just like a conventional ceiling light\u2019, explains one sales assistant. The device is fixed to the ceiling with a simple bracket and plugged in like a lamp. This simplicity appeals to novice DIY enthusiasts, who can install it themselves without calling in a professional.<\/p>\n

In terms of design, manufacturers have also made an effort. Gone are the days of bulky, unsightly fans: today’s models are modern, aesthetically<\/strong> pleasing and blend in perfectly with the interior. \u2018It’s much better than before\u2019, confirms one customer, who is satisfied with both style and functionality.<\/p>\n

Public institutions are also getting in on the act<\/h2>\n

But use is not limited to homes. In V\u00e9nissieux<\/strong>, a town in the Lyon metropolitan area, nursery schools have begun to install them on a massive scale. In classrooms, canteens and even dormitories, ceiling fans have significantly improved children’s comfort.<\/p>\n

\u2018The children finish their meal more calmly\u2019, says one teacher, while another points out that the little ones \u2018fall asleep more easily and sleep more soundly\u2019. To support this approach, the local authority has invested 90,000 euros<\/strong> to install 150 fans in around thirty schools<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
