global_colors_info=&#8221;{%22gcid-70ff693f-6f97-4074-be90-9adb196c4afe%22:%91%22header_3_text_color%22,%22header_3_text_color%22,%22header_2_text_color%22%93}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>At the time of the implementation of RE2020, the French Ministry of Ecological Transition created a Default Environmental Declaration (DED), which makes it possible to include ceiling fans in new construction projects.<\/p>\n<p>Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) specialists noted at the time that this datasheet was not particularly favorable: with 136 kg CO<sub>2<\/sub>eq<a href=\"#_edn1\" name=\"_ednref1\"><span>[i]<\/span><\/a>, ceiling fans were not especially valued in terms of carbon impact.<\/p>\n<p>For reference, <a href=\"https:\/\/base-inies.fr\/consultation\/infos-produit\/31637\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">this datasheet is available here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>As of March 2025, the Samarat is <strong>the very first branded ceiling fan to obtain its PEP ECOPASSPORT declaration<\/strong> (Product Environmental Profile) and have it published on the INIES database.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row module_id=&#8221;acv-dynamique&#8221; With this approach, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions are weighted over time. Thus, an emission occurring at the beginning of the life cycle has a greater impact than a later emission.<\/p>\n<p>Indeed, static LCA, based on the simple aggregation of data appearing in the declarations, compares data of different nature and duration: for example, the Ministry of Ecological Transition\u2019s DED is based on a Reference Service Life (RSL) of 15 years, whereas the Samarat PEP <span>ECOPASSPORT<\/span> declarations consider an RSL of 17 years.<\/p>\n<p>A building is considered to have a lifespan of fifty years (in a regulatory RE2020 LCA). The dynamic LCA calculation applied under RE2020 results in a total carbon impact of 383 kg CO<sub>2<\/sub>eq for the Ministry of Ecological Transition\u2019s DED. In this context, providing low-emission equipment to project owners becomes a key challenge, contributing to the overall economic balance of a project.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_image src=&#8221;https:\/\/www.brasseurs-air-re2020.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/figure-4-gb.jpg&#8221; It is not derived from the PEP <span>ECOPASSPORT<\/span> datasheet data. Instead, it comes from the RE2020 energy calculation and is converted according to the CO<sub>2<\/sub> intensity of the French electricity mix; it is included in the IC Energy indicator<a href=\"#_edn6\" name=\"_ednref6\"><span>[vi]<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It should be noted that in the Ministry of Ecological Transition\u2019s DED, the Module B is assigned a zero value, which is not the case in the Samarat PEP <span>ECOPASSPORT<\/span> declarations. It uses a reference value.<\/p>\n<p>For example, the <strong>functional unit<\/strong> for ventilation systems is as follows:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEnsure an air flow transfer of <strong>1 m<sup>3<\/sup>\/h<\/strong>, for ventilation and\/or air treatment and\/or smoke extraction and\/or filtration of a building over a reference service life of X years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>declared unit<\/strong> for the same systems is shown below.
